Planets Grade 3

There were a total of 64 learners and 3 educators at the
presentation. The learners had background of the planets and the idea was to
reinforce what they already knew through hands on activities. The inflatable
planets were used to allow learners to see what the planets look like.

The activities started with us discussing what a Solar
System is and what is made up of. How many planets in the Solar System and
which are the rocky planets and which the gas planets are? Visual aid has part
of the discussion. Thereafter the learners were given a planet to identify.

The second activity was Musical Planets. The learners had to
listen to piece of music and when the music stopped, they had to sit on a seat
which had a planet. The learner had to identify the planet and name one
characteristic.

The third activity was a group activity and learners were
given visual of the planets and they had to be placed in the correct order in
20 seconds.

The final activity was also a group activity. A
characteristic of the planet is given. Using visual aids the learners had to
identify the planet and place the correct answer in a bucket.
